DBT Life Skills
Seminar
"I feel like my emotions
rule my life" "I'm either disconnected or overwhelmed by my emotions"
"People always tell me that I'm 'too sensitive" "My therapist tells me to
connect with my feelings, but I just feel numb" "I feel out of control and
unable to change"
Based on Marsha Linehan's DBT
model, this 8-week didactic course will help individuals effectively
control difficult emotional states and problematic impulses. Individuals will
learn to connect with their feelings and to be more mindful of the various
factors leading to certain emotions. Skills are developed to help identify
distorted perceptions and to respond to feelings in a healthy, more effective
manner.
This seminar is a great foundation for most therapy clients
and is open to both eating-disordered and non-eating-disordered individuals.
DBT is especially helpful in the treatment of: compulsive and impulse-control
disorders, individuals with chronic relationship difficulties, eating
disorders, anger management, depression and anxiety. Individuals are required
to be working with an individual therapist at the time of the skills training
seminar.
