Dr. Amanda Kaplan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. Working with both adolescents and adults in individual and family psychotherapy, Dr. Kaplan utilizes a compassionate and multimodal approach to assist clients in addressing underlying issues and developing skills to effectively navigate life’s ups and downs. She uses an individualized approach to meet clients at any and all stages of their recovery process, and is passionate about helping people reach a place of healing, holistic health, and confidence. While Dr. Kaplan understands that the process of change can, at times, feel overwhelming or intimidating, she strives to create a safe and supportive space for self-exploration and healing.

Dr. Kaplan employs a variety of skills-based approaches (ACT, DBT, CBT) to teach strategies for coping with emotions, improving communication in relationships, and developing a positive self-image. She is trained in Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), a new treatment that has been shown to be effective for individuals with Chronic Depression and Anorexia Nervosa. She also offers Family-Based Therapy (FBT), an empirically supported treatment approach for adolescents who have been diagnosed with eating disorders.

Dr. Kaplan holds a Doctorate and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University. She has clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders. She has provided individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial-hospitalization, and residential levels of care. Prior to joining A New Beginning, Dr. Kaplan served as the lead clinician for an adult partial-hospitalization eating disorder program.

Dr. Kaplan is honored to work with A New Beginning’s renowned team to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and client-centered care.
