Amy Gerberry, LPC

Clinical Therapist

Amy Gerberry, LPC, brings an abundance of heart and experience to the A New Beginning treatment family. Amy celebrates having been in the mental health field for nearly 30 years, and over 20 years specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. Eating disorder treatment is a passion for Amy as she has dedicated her career to working with all levels of care.

Amy enjoys working with individuals (all ages), couples, and families. Amy walks alongside her clients meeting them where they are currently at and sets therapeutic goals collaboratively. Building a strong therapeutic partnership is key to building the skills and tools for successful recovery.

In therapy, Amy utilizes multiple theoretical approaches such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure with Response Prevention and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Different approaches and styles work for different clients and can change throughout the treatment process. Flexibility, communication, and collaboration are important components and are consistently supported throughout treatment.

Amy appreciates the team approach at A New Beginning. Along with the full spectrum of eating disorders, Amy is experienced in working with other and often co-occurring diagnoses such as PTSD, depression, all anxiety disorders, personality disorders, other mood disorders, and substance abuse.

The journey to recovery can be complex and challenging, an experienced therapist is imperative. Full recovery is possible and it is Amy’s privilege to be on her client’s journey as a support and a guide. “The best view comes from the hardest climb!”
