Communication is like oxygen … go ahead and breathe!

by

“Communication to a relationship is like oxygen to life – without it…it dies.”

When you’re feeling hurt, scared, lonely, or insecure in a relationship, are you able to share this with the other person in an authentic and non-blaming way?

Most of us would like to think we already do this, but the other person in the relationship may feel otherwise. Authentically sharing these vulnerable emotions is one of The. Most. Difficult. Things. To. Do. … for all of us! But it is also one of the most important components to a satisfying, emotionally connected relationship.

Learning how to breathe oxygen into a relationship via meaningful communication is a skill that is acquired, much like learning a foreign language. To acquire this skill, seek out a person/people who can guide you through this process — a therapist, friend, parent, mentor — and be patient with yourself as you learn.
