Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Adolescents

A New Beginning is honored to offer our innovative Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program for Adolescents – HEAL.

HEAL – Helping Empower Adolescents To Live was born from our commitment to support adolescents and their families in the pursuit of full recovery and holistic healing.

HEAL’s Innovative Virtual IOP Programming during COVID.

Immediately following the first signs of the COVID-19 pandemic, our incredible HEAL team of clinicians went into action to develop an IOP interim VIRTUAL program that was not only safe… but was stellar!

The result?  A super-innovative, super-effective IOP program that brings our clinical team virtually into your home, allowing us to work both in a continued group format, but also one-on-one with your teen in powerful, experiential ways never before possible.  What does this look like?   Think virtual meal prep with our dietitian working “alongside” your teen, in your very own family kitchen!  Body-image work with your teen going through their closet, while their therapist provides clinical and moral support.  And, virtual meal support sessions over Zoom… with adolescents laughing, sharing and supporting each other as our IOP team guides the teen group through difficult virtual meals.

Staying Connected. Staying Safe. Staying on Track for Eating Disorder Recovery.

Our Innovative Adolescent Eating Disorder IOP – HEAL

Our incredible team of adolescent specialists, Dr. Amanda Kaplan, Stefanni Peters, LPC, and Amy Reynolds, RD, CDE have created a unique, family-centered and evidenced-based program that is designed to treat the WHOLE adolescent. In fact, groups are designed to provide adolescents with both eating disorder recovery skills and teen-focused empowerment life skills.

The HEAL IOP schedule offers three hours of state-of-the-art programming per day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Programing includes one supported meal experience per day.

Our HEAL program schedule is designed to fit an adolescent’s busy life and provides time for homework, relaxation, and family connection. Our program offers several innovative approaches, including expressive arts therapy, experiential meals, and yoga therapy.

Our Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) monthly program, “It Takes A Family,” allows families to connect and build tools to support their loved ones into FULL Recovery. All of our psychotherapy groups incorporate evidence-based coping skills, social skills, and eating disorder recovery strategies.
