Dr. Julie’s Meaningful Morsel … “There’s a difference between knowing the path … and walking the path.” — The Matrix

by

I recently sat across from a client, disheartened by frustration, filled with shame, and so disappointed in himself, that he could barely bring his eyes to meet mine. As if apologizing for his very existence and defeated in tone and stance, he spoke the words I’ve heard uttered hundreds of times, by hopeless clients on the brink of despair, “I KNOW what I should be doing…I just can’t seem to get myself to do it.”

Whether a binge eater, morbidly obese, or imprisoned by an eating disorder, perhaps you’ve been trying to learn how to walk, using an incomplete map. Why not choose a map that includes those imperative emotional trails? And how about beginning to explore them?
