“Once you name it, you can tame it.”

The following is shared with gracious permission from a client at A New Beginning, who hopes that others find inspiration in this simple, yet profound, statement that captures the essence of what learning from your past really means!

A couple of weeks ago, one of our providers was privileged to participate in a session with a very courageous and thoughtful client who is working hard to discover her authentic truths that she has silenced with dissatisfying behaviors for so many years. As the session unfolded, the client put words to her process, “Once you name it, you can tame it.” Her therapeutic journey, for the first time in her life, is helping her “name” all of the variables that contributed to the challenges she is faced with today. And as she gains a solid understanding of these variables, and her self, she is feeling empowered to now “tame” these variables and intentionally do something different — something that is more authentic and fulfilling. THIS beautiful process and awareness of self is what the work at A New Beginning is all about!
